STRATEGY
Steel Pier Capital targets investments in both private and public domestic companies. We are sector agnostic and seek to capitalize on a wide range of strategic opportunities:
- Undervalued businesses
- Special situations made available through relationships
- Activist public market investing
- Management lead buy-outs
- Acquisition financing
- Expansion capital
- Bridge loans
Steel Pier Capital aims to invest in non-competitive or time-sensitive situations originated through its network of long-standing relationships with operators, financial institutions, investment banks, advisers, agents, private equity groups and hedge funds.Steel Pier Capital focuses on middle-market transactions. We will participate in larger transactions by syndicating with our partner network of hedge funds, private equity funds and mezzanine debt funds.
INVESTMENT METHODOLOGY
Over the last two years, cyclical trends in traditional markets have become considerably more volatile and far less predictable. Therefore, rather than restrict ourselves to a one-size-fits-all buy-side strategy that is narrowly focused on a specific industry or sector, Steel Pier Capital seeks to adopt a diverse investment approach that exploits value-based opportunities that arise anywhere in the global marketplace.
We anticipate that the vast majority of our holdings will be in North America, but we are prepared to pursue exceptional opportunities regardless of locale, provided the anticipated return on investment warrants our attention. Steel Pier’s core focus is to identify rapidly growing companies with entrepreneurial leadership and a “disruptive” product offering that can move markets. This diversified approach results in a dynamic and varied portfolio of securities in both public and private companies, and provides opportunistic investments in special situations including, but not be limited to, private placements of restricted securities issued by publicly traded companies (commonly referred to as “PIPEs”), convertible or exchangeable securities.
